WHAT IS MICA?
The Markets in Crypto-Assets (MICA) Regulation will introduce a new regulatory framework for European crypto-assets. The regulation would establish harmonised rules for crypto-assets at EU level, thereby providing legal certainty for crypto-assets not covered by existing EU legislation. By enhancing the protection of consumers and investors as well as financial stability, the regulation promotes innovation and use of crypto-assets. This briefing will give an introduction to MiCA and the impact it will have on Irish Firms. It will be delivered by Mai Santamaria, Department of Finance, Joanne O’ Rourke, Senior Associate in Financial Services and Josh Hogan, specialist in Financial Services Regulation and Fintech at Mc Cann Fitzgerald LLP. We will have tea/coffee and networking from 9:30 – 10am.
