Programme overview

With the progress of the vaccination programme and the easing of restrictions taking place from June 2021 onwards, the focus for many businesses and workplaces, closed since 2020, is to re-open and resume operations as soon as restrictions allow. This interactive half day workshop will enable participants to manage the practical implications of the return to office from an OHS and HR/employee relations perspective.

Learning outcomes:

On completion of the programme, participants will be able to:
• Explain the requirements of the Work Safely Protocol
• Employ the HSA checklists to develop and implement a Covid-19
Response plan
• Describe workplace Covid-19 Infection Prevention and Control
• Manage the HR elements such as:
o Managing those returning from lay-off/short time working
o Vaccinations
o Annual leave and non-essential international travel
o Dealing effectively with non-compliance issues
o Anxiety and mental health issues
o Hybrid and remote working requests

HR, OHS professionals, or anyone responsible for facilities management.


The workshop will alternate between the OHS considerations for implementing the Work Safely Protocol and effectively managing any HR or employee relations issues that may arise as businesses re-open.

The OHS part will cover:
• The Steps for Employers and Workers to
Reduce Risk of Exposure to COVID-19
in the Workplace
• Keeping the COVID-19 Response Plan
up to date
• Managing symptomatic workers
• Implement the COVID-19 Infection
Prevention and Control (IPC) Measures
• Ventilation
• Rapid Antigen Diagnostic Tests

The HR/ employee relations part will explore:
• Fair and effective ways to bring
employees back from lay-off/short time
• Vaccinations and the return to the office
• Managing built up annual leave and
those travelling overseas for nonessential purposes
• Effectively managing non-compliance
breaches of the Work Safely Protocol
• Supporting employees who may be
anxious when returning to the office
• Key considerations for hybrid and
remote working requests
