Programme overview

Programme Management is the discipline of managing a series of
related projects, known collectively as a programme.

The internationally recognized Managing Successful Programmes
(MSP®) course focuses on the key skills and knowledge required by
programme managers to effectively deliver a successful programme.

MSP® is used as the best practice methodology for managing
programmes by the Office of Government Commerce (UK) and the
United Nations.

Course Objectives /Learning Outcomes

Candidates who have completed the programme will have a thorough
grounding on international best practice in Programme Management
and, on passing the exams, the globally recognised MSP® qualification

MSP® is written primarily for those who are involved in the direction,
management, support and delivery of programmes. Including:

Course Content

The course comprises pre-course work followed by a mixture of
learning sessions, group exercises and programme scenario based
practical work.

During the course, delegates will undertake a number of exercises and
mock examinations from these they will gain feedback on their
progress towards eventual success. Delegates should expect to
undertake 1 – 2 hours of revision work on the 1st night of the course.

The Foundation exam tests general understanding of the fundamental
principles of MSP® – the exam is 40 minutes long. The exam is a closed
book, multiple choice paper. There are 50 questions and the pass mark
is 30 out of 50 representing 60%.

The Practitioner exam lasts for two and a half hours – is based on
objective testing – 9 questions – 180 marks available – 90 marks or
more are required to pass.

Open-book (only the MSP® Guide is allowed).
Prior to the course delegates will be sent the following:

  • “Managing Successful Programmes” using MSP®

Delegates should read the manual covering the Overview of MSP®,

  • Principles of Programme Management and the Programme
    Management Lifecycle and familiarize themselves with the content
    and structure of the method.
  • “Managing Successful Programmes” Pocketbook

Delegates should use the pocketbook as a pre-course revision aid to
become familiar with the key products and processes of MSP®
